JOB TITLE: R&D Hardware/Electrical Design Engineer
This opening is for a R&D Hardware/Electronics Design Engineer for MWD Tool Development based in Houston, TX. The candidate is expected to have power and analog circuit design experiences, a deep understanding of power electronics devices and electrical circuit theory. Exposure to lab-view is desired as well. Experience of circuit design and analysis tools will be useful. MWD circuit design experience is required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Works primarily in Electrical engineering in product development, design, sustaining, and R&D. Provide technical support to field operations throughout the life of the product.
- Plans and conducts research , design and develop of engineering assignments
- Propose, develop, and/or implement modifications to existing equipment to improve/enhance its manufacturability, cost, performance, functionality, or reliability.
- Perform troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis as required.
- Interface with manufacturing engineers and vendors throughout all phases of product development from concept to obsolescence.
- Ensure all product documentation required for field operations and manufacturing remains current and readily available.
- Perform sustaining, verification, and qualification tests at all levels from component to assembly to system level.
- Produce documentation and equipment for the maintenance, testing, and sustaining of equipment.
- Create and develop test specifications & instructions, inspection procedures, integration procedures, and maintenance manuals.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
- Analog circuit design experience
- Experience with Power electronics design
- Experience in designing amplifiers, ADC DSP, FPGA etc.
- Experience with Matlab and Lab-view electronic design tools
- Knowledge in material/part/equipment handling such as hazard chemical, HTHP tools, and electronics ESD awareness.
- Able to perform statistical analysis and root cause failure analysis.
- Knowledgeable in down-hole tool operation is a plus
- Good communication and team work skills
- Adept at technical writing for engineering reports.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, LICENSES and EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering (from an accredited university) is required.
- Master’s Degree is preferred.
- 5+ years’ working as an Electrical Engineer is a must.
- 2+ years’ experience in oil field industry is a must.
- Recent certifications are preferred.
- Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
- No Relocation extended.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
