The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) is Australia’s independent statutory authority and is the expert regulator of health and safety, structural integrity (including well integrity) and environmental management for all offshore energy operations and greenhouse gas storage activities in Commonwealth waters.

Working with NOPSEMA provides an opportunity to make a real difference to people working in Australia’s offshore energy industry and the environment.

We are looking for an experienced petroleum industry professional, qualified in an offshore oil and gas industry discipline, to join our Safety and Integrity Division at our Melbourne Office on an ongoing (permanent) or non-ongoing (fixed-term) for an initial period of up to 18 months basis dependent upon NOPSEMA’s business requirements.

We require an OHS Regulatory Specialist with substantial expertise and experience in one or more of the following disciplines:

  • Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering - experienced in offshore petrochemical facilities.
  • Process or Reliability Engineering - experienced in predictive and proactive maintenance management in offshore petrochemical facilities.
  • Management of Asset Integrity programs associated with ageing assets.
  • Operational Management.

You will be responsible for assessing safety cases and associated documents and inspecting offshore operations and supporting NOPSEMA’s investigations of accidents and incidents.  You will also provide specialist technical skills and advice to, and on behalf of, the Authority and represent NOPSEMA and engage with industry and other stakeholders.
